Hi all, I’m Nellie and I’m friends with Petra - the founder of Flat Out Footwear - I’m honoured and very excited to be one of the ambassadors for the brand, and host of 'On The Couch' - our weekly chat show blog!
Petra and I used to work in the corporate world together, and both left to raise our families at around the same time.
When Petra created the brand she wanted the shoes to be practical, comfortable, and a fashionable alternative to high heels - and those criteria tick my boxes.
As a mother of a toddler I am too busy to go shopping, or if I do miraculously find time I usually have said toddler with me who is not so keen on shopping and makes it virtually impossible, and not particularly pleasurable - so shopping online is a great option and one I use regularly.
I’ll hand over to Wanda now, who is another brand ambassador.
Thank you Nell - it’s wonderful to be here, and I’ve secretly always wanted to be on a chat show panel! So let’s begin - I work as an executive coach and it is my job to coach a team of executives to perform to their potential and exceed company targets. I am married to a lawyer and we have been blessed with two sons, both currently in high school. Life is busy, and stylish flat shoes are a staple in my wardrobe. Nellie, Petra and I met at a company we all worked for many years ago and I’m delighted to be part of this.
Allow me now to introduce you to our third brand ambassador, Maya.
Thank you Wanda :) Wow, I’m still pinching myself - this is so far removed from anything I’ve done before, and I hope I have something to contribute. I can tell you one thing though - I love oxfords and brogues because I feel like me when I’m wearing them, whereas most other styles make me look like someone else! Ok, what can I tell you about me? Um, ok, well I am a musician - I write songs, I sing and play guitar. I can’t imagine what I would do with myself if I didn’t have my music. The world around me simply talks to me in melody and lyrics - it’s the way I see the world, the way I interpret it and the way I communicate with it. I met Nellie when she came to me for singing lessons, and she introduced me to Flat Out Footwear. I quickly became a big fan, and subsequently I was invited to become a brand ambassador, which I joyously accepted. Thanks for having me :) Back to you Nellie!
Thanks ladies - this is going to be a lot of fun. Ok, so each week we will get together and chat about life, the universe and shoes! As brand ambassadors, one of us will have the privilege of choosing a shoe and styling an outfit to go in the Look Book. This week I had the honour!
I am very excited about the new 3D Printed Oxfords collection so I chose from that range, of which there are almost 100 amazing shoes to choose from. I selected a Watercolor 3D Printed Oxford because I love how fun and whimsical they are. When I think of oxfords traditionally, I picture them being worn with a business suit, so I decided to play on that theme.
I have used a tailored belted blazer in white, to wear over a gorgeous white silk camisole top, and teamed them with a pair of tangerine cropped pants which contrast nicely with the main colors in the shoe. Cropped pants work well because oxfords look great with some skin on show. I accessorised with a pair of mismatched earrings which compliment the playful nature of the shoe. I have finished off the look with a classic tan handbag which is gorgeous in its own right, but doesn't upstage the shoe.
Nicely styled Nell - I love the look you have created, and aren’t those shoes wonderful.
I totally agree with you Wanda :) I love the shoes you have chosen Nellie, and how simple you’ve kept the outfit, allowing the shoes to sing :)
Awww thank you ladies! Wow we are already out of time - didn’t that go fast? We look forward to being back 'On The Couch' with you next week - until then, take care and be kind to yourselves and each other.
