Hi all, welcome to On The Couch with Nellie, Wanda and Maya! I'm Nellie, and we’re delighted to be the brand ambassadors for Flat Out Footwear. Each week we get together and share our musings on life, the universe and shoes of course! One of us will style an outfit with a pair of shoes from the Flat Out Footwear range. We'll have lots of fun!
Hey there - I'm Maya, thanks for having me :)
Hello everyone, I'm Wanda and it's wonderful to be here.
Now ladies, I'm wanting to broach a bit of an awkward subject this week.
Oh dear, I'm worried already!
Ha ha don't leave us hanging :)
Well, it's something that doesn't get talked about very often, but we all do it - and that is, pass wind!
I beg your pardon Nel, I don’t think so thank you very much. There’s good reason it doesn’t get talked about. Why would you want to?
Well I thought it would be interesting and amusing. For example do you pass wind in front of people - your partner? And what do you do if you need to pass wind in a public place?
No, no, no sorry Nel I’m not having this conversation.
Maya? What about you?
The first thing that came to mind for me was a trumpet ha ha!
My little toddler says "noises" and giggles with delight when she passes wind, and I never thought I'd think passing wind is cute, but I have a new perspective!
There's nothing quite like a child's perspective :)
Ok I’m getting a very reproachful look from Wan - she's not going to join in. We’d better change topics before the atmosphere in here is worse than an SBD!
It is a bit on the nose though ha ha :)
Please Maya, don't encourage her.
It's ok Wan, I'm changing the subject! So do tell, did you get a chance to listen to The Teacher's Pet podcast?
Actually I did, and I have to agree it's compelling, yet terribly tragic.
Yes, it's very tragic, and on so many levels. Let's hope murder charges are finally laid. The podcast is on hiatus for the foreseeable future, and apparently the police have prepared a brief for the DPP - so hopefully it's only a matter of time.
Yes, the poor family need justice and confirmation.
What are you doing with yourself now that the podcast is on hiatus? I know you're busy, but I meant from an entertainment perspective ha ha :)
I have some other ones to listen to, but after being so engrossed in Lyn Dawson's story, I haven't been able to turn to anything else factual, so I'm enjoying some fictional entertainment in the form of the latest season of OITNB!
When do you get time to sit down and watch it? A podcast I can understand, because you can multitask!
That's such a valid point Wan. It is much harder to sit down and find the time to watch Netflix, but I do squeeze in a little here and there. What about you ladies, are you watching, listening or reading anything you'd like to share?
Given the recent passing of Aretha Franklin, I've been listening to a lot of her music. I've always loved her but hadn't listened to her in a while, and I'm enjoying rediscovering her in a way. Talk about new perspectives - you can certainly gain a new perspective in the light of someone's passing when looking at (or in this case listening to) their legacy.
Her legacy will live on. She had hit after hit and there have been many wonderful covers, and no doubt we will be blessed with many more.
RIP Aretha :(
My little indulgence is Better Call Saul, which is a prequel to Breaking Bad. The fourth season has just begun, and we are seeing the main character transform, as a reaction to past trauma - so I'm loving it from a psychological angle, as well as its story telling and dark humour.
Is that on Netflix too?
It's actually on Stan.
I've not been able to bring myself to watch it, because it seems such an unlikely spin-off from Breaking Bad. Saul Goodman was far from my favourite character.
I once shared your doubts, but have been very pleasantly surprised, and will even go so far as to say Better Call Saul has surpassed Breaking Bad in my humble opinion.
Wow - that's a big call ha ha :)
Sorry, but I haven't watched Breaking Bad. Now, I thought one of us might have been reading a book, but no such luck! Hey Maya, please tell us about breaking out the zebra shoes!
Ha ha, I've been eyeing these off for a while - they're from the Animal Print 3D Printed Oxfords range, and I think they're cool. I've teamed them up with a casual outfit that I can hang in, and go out for brunch or lunch, see a movie, or go to the mall - anything really. They're comfortable and versatile, and fun.
That is a fun shoe. I love how you've pulled the outfit together and added just a little flounce and jewellery to an otherwise androgynous outfit.
That's a cool outfit Maya, and very you. Well my lovelies, we've got to say cheerio for now. Take care everyone and be kind to one another.
(Author’s note: the characters of Nellie, Wanda and Maya portrayed in this blog are fictitious - and have been created for the purpose of providing entertainment, and Flat Out Footwear product related information).
